Dear Stripe,
My name is Kyle Gairhan, and I am the founder and director of Cuban Aid Alliance Inc., a nonprofit organization registered in the state of Tennessee. Our mission is to support underserved communities in Cuba through direct food assistance, sustainable development projects, and community-led initiatives that foster long-term resilience.
We recently attempted to set up a Stripe account to collect donations and support our fundraising efforts. However, we understand there may be concerns regarding operations involving Cuba. I’d like to clarify that while our aid efforts are directed toward communities in Cuba, all fundraising activities are conducted from the United States, by U.S.-based individuals, in full compliance with U.S. law, including the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. Our nonprofit does not process payments within Cuba or engage in prohibited financial transactions.
We believe our use of Stripe would fall within permitted categories of humanitarian aid, and we are committed to ensuring transparency and compliance with all applicable policies and sanctions. We would be grateful for the opportunity to provide any additional documentation or explanation needed to support our case.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We deeply appreciate your platform and hope to partner with Stripe in continuing our mission to bring nourishment and dignity to those in need.
Warm regards,
Kyle Gairhan
